Security staff 'barred doors' as desperate people tried to escape Brazil night club inferno which claimed at least 232 lives.
An eyewitness to the incident said door staff initially did not understand what was happening and tried to stop people leaving by keeping the exit door shut. In what appears to be the deadliest nightclub fire for a decade, people were reportedly screaming 'there's a fire' but were trapped inside the Kiss Club, in Santo Maria, southern Brazil, pictured right burned-out. A man was seen carrying a victim of the deadly inferno amidst the chaos, left, as a huge crowd gathered outside the nightclub, bottom right, in the early hours. Read more...
